Processing times are normally 1 to 3 business days for CA and FBI background checks, but can take several weeks to months if a manual criminal history verification is required. Firearms Eligibility checks always take longer and processing times can vary depending on DOJ backlog. The DOJ WILL NOT provide estimates on completion or expedite requests. Please be patient if there is a delay.
“In Progress” means that your report is still being worked on. “Completed” means that a response has been sent to BSIS for review.
PLEASE NOTE:
Auspicious Live Scan DOES NOT receive notifications about processing delays, DOES NOT receive any information from your background check report, and DOES NOT receive information about your BSIS license status. If should receive a DOJ letter indicating re-submission is required, please contact us directly to schedule an appointment to redo your live scan.
The Bureau of Security and Investigative Services is the receiving agency for background check report results and also delay notifications. If there is a delay notification, the DOJ DOES NOT provide an estimated time to complete your report and processing times CANNOT be expedited. You can directly reach out to BSIS with questions at the number listed on your form. Please be patient. Thank you!
